27 Jan Summer Time in Taipei
There are a few of tourist attractions located in different part of Taiwan. We only visited Taipei this time as it was a short free and easy trip which could only covers the following places:
Day1 – Around Ximending
Day2 – Around Taipei 101, Liberty Square (CKS Memorial Hall), Dadaocheng Wharf & Ningxia Night Market
Day3 – Yehliu Geopark, Jiufen & Shifen Sky Lanterns
Day4 – Taipei Main Station
It was an early morning flight so we had to wake up in the middle of the night and get ready to airport. It was already half day gone once we touched down Taipei and checked into one of the hotel in Ximending. We just visited the Red House (About the Red House) and Ximending Night Market around the area we stayed. The night market is bustling with noise and excitement.
Tasting is believing, the taiwanese (wild boar) sausage and bubble milk tea taste superb!
Since it was a short stay in Taipei, we woke up early and started our journey by train, trying to cover as much places as possible. First, we went to Taipei 101 Complex and then to Liberty Square.
We lingered around while waiting for the timing of changing of the guard at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
After having a late lunch at the nearby cafe shop, we went to Dadaocheng Wharf for a beautiful sunset view.
We ended up the day by hunting street food at Ningxia Night Market, there is a narrow alley with two rows of stalls.
We chartered a taxi for the whole day to further destinations like Yehliu Geopark, Jiufen & Shifen. It was a very hot day but considered as nice weather since it supposed to be cloudy or rainny these days according to weather forecast. We stopped by at a recreation park and ordered coconuts to quench our thirst first.
Our first destination was Yehliu Geopark which is the most famous eroded rock formations from a combination of natural earth movements in the world. Nice to see but we are not allowed to touch the eroded rock forms especially the Queen’s Head, there would have security guards to constantly whistle reminders not to touch any of the formation.
After quite a distance of walking exercise while enjoying the fantastic view, we moved on to our next destination, Shifen for releasing the Sky Lantern. Before that, we had to fill our stomach with famous local food near a temple. Pictures shown as below:
We went to visit Shifen Old Street after taken our lunch, you would know you are approaching the place when you look up to the sky that filled with lanterns. It’s located in Pingxi, people can freely let off the sky lanterns at the openness of the train track after writing their long-winded wishes on them.
We did not stay long there as we still need to visit Santorini of Taiwan, Jiufen Old Street. A street full of stalls selling delicious food.
Basically, we had done our dinner there by walking around the stalls and tasting different kinds of food.
It’s time to say goodbye after having some fruitful time in Taipei. We carried our luggages and took train to the airport.
We had some times to walk around the Taipei Main Station to buy some souvenirs and eat some finger food.
That’s the end of my story in Taipei. Click this link to view the rest of the post that I have shared for other places I visited.
